The Goring Gap 50K Ultra is a circular route meaning no hassle getting picked up at the other end. The route is mixed terrain with trails, tracks and quiet lanes. You will be surprised how scenic the route and villages along the route are. It’s beautiful running.

No navigation skills are required. The route is marked and has marshals at key points. We can supply GPX /KLM files for those who like to use GPS navigation. The route uses the Thames Path & Ridgeway National Trails.

Climbing – Ultra runs are renowned for big climbs, organisers go out of their way to find a route with at least a couple of thousand meters of climbing. Fear not, we have a couple of hundred, it’s flat with a couple of interesting little features!

We have mobile medical support but there are areas of the route that are difficult to reach so we ask that you carry a mobile phone to contact us with in an emergency. Medical and route support numbers will be supplied.

May is usually quite warm and we expect the trails to have dried out by Spring. We expect the shoe choice to be road or a little grip but we will advise on shoes and the gear to bring with you as we get closer to the event and check the route.

Ultras don’t have water stops every three miles like marathons, what they do have is support or check points. We have five on our route where you can top up your water bottles (you carry your own) and grab some nutrition, take a break, visit the loo and then pop back onto the route.
